I believe for the safety of the people, National Security is more important than Civil Liberities. Losing a little bit of privacy is a small price to pay for your life. I don't think normal citizens know the magnitude of what could happen if the government didn't take drastic measures to keep us safe. As citizens we should appreciate how far our government goes to protect us. Think about it, if you didn't know the government did this to protect us you wouldn't even care. Nothing in your life would change at all. If your innocent, even if you do look up "How To Make A Bomb" your still safe, the government may keep a closer watch on your actions but your 100% innocent until you attempt to make a bomb. It's weird how completely innocent citizens are offended by the National Security of the government. People are behaving as if the government is forcing a GPS chip into your head, it's not that serious.
I agree entirely. Besides if you have nothing to hide then why does it matter right?
I agree :-)
I agree
It's probably not that serious, I agree with that. However, I'm not sure if the patriot act is just right or going to far. Even if they have nothing to hide, people value their privacy. I don't do anything illegal, but I don't want people to know what I do in my spare time. In fact, I kind of worry that someone is looking at what I do on a regular basis. I'm also slightly paranoid, so that accounts for that one.
Also, The government may not be forcing a GPS chip into our heads, but most of us can already be tracked anyway. Another bit of paranoia there. I think my point is that it's bad for Paranoid people.
But look to the future, someone kidnaps someone close to you. You would want there to be someone, somewhere that could locate them quickly. Its not likely to happen but it happens everyday. If something happened to your loved one you would give up a lot more than a little bit of liberities to save them.
This is true. It really is kind of a mixed bag.
I agree with that.
