I agree with the Act if our national security is threatened. I do believe that it was based on good intentions and that it can help prevent attacks. I believe it has done a pretty good job of that since 9/11. I think that surveillance should be used to watch out for terrorist acts in certain public buildings that may be at risk.
I do agree with the part of the Act where penalties are increased on those who commit terrorist acts because terrorism is a far more serious issue than a simple crime. I would give up some rights for protection against terrorism but the people are also given the right to their privacy. The government needs to be aware of the boundaries between public safety and invasion of privacy because there is a fine line between the two.
