I disagree with the statement, I feel that the government just listed excuses to invade the privicy of American citizens. The act says it was made to protect Americans from acts of terror, it then goes on to talk about how the government can use this act to fight other crimes and stop different issues, therefore, it is not being used the way it was created. under part 3 of the act it says, "Allows victims of computer hacking to request law enforcement assistance in monitoring "tresspassers" on their comeputers", that's funny, THE GOVERNMENT IS TRESSPASSING ON EVERYONES COMPUTER! I feel this act was created for more reasons then what is listed and they are using the data mining for their power to control and monitor the lives of American citizens.
I disagree Cayci. I feel that the government really did do this to help prevent terrorist attacks.
i agree with you Zack. the goverment must do what it has to, to keep the American citizens safe from terrorism.
I do understand your argument though Cayci.
Haha thanks(:
I completely agree with the irony of the government. They're being hypocritical, and ultimately breaking the law to "protect" Americans from terrorism. At the end of the day, they're invading people's personal lives without just cause, and trying to find terrorists. Also, how does anyone know that the people in charge of these actions are trustworthy and unbiased. What if they're just profiling or trying to make something terrible out of an innocent message?
EXACTALLY! These people who data mine could run off with all sorts of information on anyone!
While I don't believe that the government created the act to purposely have the right to invade everyone's privacy, I do agree that the act has taken its form. The government does have a good excuse to monitor us at all times and honestly it does feel like they are invading our privacy. Citizens need to feel like they are being protected under this act and not like they are being attacked. However, I think this act does the complete opposite and makes people feel uncomfortable. Hopefully, the government uses this act to keep us safe and at this point that is all that we can do ... just hope.
i dont think they made the act purposely either but at the same time, i still dont think its a big deal for them to track everything because who cares if they saw us at a gas station, or getting a coffee at starbucks. i know theres more to it but we are benefiting from this.
im not saying that i totally disagree with you, but think about the big picture... when it comes down to it would you rather be safe than sorry? i for one would rather be walking around alive and interacting with my loved ones then dying in a terrorist attack that could have been prevented...
i agree with Zach, i feel like the govenment has done a really good job. and protect us to the best of their ability.
I agree with Zack, the government has been doing everything they can. I also understand your arguement Cayci. The computer issue is a little creepy but they are only doing it to protect us.
I respect your opinion but so far i think the government has been good to the people if you look past all the negatives. Not all the time but i feel some of the time if the government is invading our privacy, it is to protevt us.
