This quote from Patrick Henry reminds me that I have to fight for freedom each and every day.  If I do not save guard my freedoms, the government will erode them.

Although the Patriot Act seems effective in preventing terrorist attacks, I do not agree that everyone should be considered a suspect in this data mining endeavors. 

This countries legal system is built on the idea that people are innocent until proven guilty.  The Patriot Act violates this basic tenant of American Law.

I do agree, however, the government will not care about me if I am not doing anything wrong, I would rather have my rights violated and be safe than not have my rights violated and be hurt or dead because of a terrorist attack.

What is concidered a suspicious person  versus somone of interest? dont you have to check someone out before you can determine if they are dangerous or not?

What do freedoms mean to the dead? Regardless if it is you or not. i cannot say that someone not looking at what i do is more important than my or anyone elses life.

That's true our justice system states that you are innocent until proven guilty, but the Patroit Act is is abusing that term in a unconstitutional way. and if we dont have anything we have our freedom so it shouldnt be invaded when they want to.

you make a good point but we gave the government permission to protect us from terrorists and if that means that they look at peoples records then they should be allowed. they are only going to be looking for terrorists and they more than likely wont even pay attention to what ordinary citizens are doing.

I do agree with you. f people have done nothing wrong, why should they be looked at as a part of terrorism.

you do not know if someone is "innocent" though. I agree with checking everyone out, even a little bit to make sure that they are not a threat to the country we live in. I like my freedoms to and i have a ton of people constantly staring at me when i go to work to keep an eye on what i am doing in the store so i dont try to sneak money in my pocket. For someone who has never done anything wrong, there's a first time for everything and if a citizen ends up in the wrong croud or if someone threatens them to do something stupid like blow up Los Vegas, then it would be the governments fault. We need security to feel safe where we live, but not too much to invade a person's life.

I agree with that we are innocent until proven gulilty and think the Patriot Act is a huge violation of American Laws.
