The patriot act makes life a little harder for the avg citizen but i think it is a necessity since my life is in danger and i would rather have the government worry about it instead of me.

The government is gaining entirely too much power with this though. Your life is still in danger. Think of all the corruption in America, do you honestly think that the government isn't going to use this to our disadvantage eventually?

Your life may or may not be in danger. All depends on the conditions you are in. Whatever that may mean

I think that both of you are kinda right. I can see that if our life is in danger then we should give up some of our rights as a citizen to make sure we are going to be safe. If you arent doing anything wrong then there really shouldnt be anything to hide. I also understand that if we let them have to much power then it probably will work to our disadvantage.

Use what against us? Unless youre doing terrorist-esque stuff, you have nothing to worry about. The government isn't searching for things to attack you with.

That's not necessarily true thought. Look at the history America has with corruption, when officials have this much power, it's bound to go wrong.

if it does go wrong i would ratherhave it go wrong with me protected than have nothing that goes wrong.

This is truely not that bad. I mean, we could be in one of those countries that is actually victimized by their government. Im pretty sure a Russian would scoff at what we call "violation".
