I agree with this statement. America needs the Patriot Act because it helps prevent terrosrism while posing little risk to civil liberties. And it just allows counterterrorism agents to use tools that police officers have used for decades. Plus, why wouldn't you want investigators to figure out who the enemy is and stop them? It's all so that Americans will be safe and, ya know... not get blown to bits or get hurt in some other equally painful way.

Absolutely correct.  In order to address the increasing threat of terrorism (especially nuclear) we have to be proactive.  Government is supposed to do things in the public interest.
