Symbols- I didn't really see a lot of symbols but in the movie they use rain several times to show the downcast mood of the characters in the scene.

Themes- The movie is over flowing with themes!

1) Don't judge a book by its cover- Elizabeth is a people wacher, she judges everyone. She looks at them and sees what she thinks is the truth in people.

2)First impression are key.- This book was first titled" First Impressions" Elizabeth and Mr. Dary bothe base the original dislike for each other on their first disadvantaged meeting, and they send the whole story trying to get over that.

3) Things are not always as they seem.- again this relates to the past two but  both Elizabeth and Darcy judge each others actions and neither really knows what the other ment by them. For example when Elizabeth judged Darcy's actions toward Mr. Wickham.

Response- I really love this movie it a timeless tale of love and the things that will keep people apart, especially the things we do to keep others apart from us. I also really love this movie b/c every time I watch it I notice soemthing that elizabeth does that I also do(for example the judgigng without getting to know people, it is a bad habit!:O). She and I are very alike which is not always a good thing but it makes for an intersting show. I have also read the book and several other Jane Austen books i love the way she writes about things that are very time period based and yet the emotions she covneys for situations are very relative for everytime period. Her novel are timeless!
