1) The local and State government failed to plan for Katrina. They were responsible for having the buses and and people to drive the buses. They state and local government, should have been responsible for evacuating they people before the hurricane came. They should have had there national guard positioned farther away from the water. The national government should have been responsible for helping with rescuing people right after the storm or the day after not six days. They also should have provided them with food and water and any other resource that they needed. They should have had a plan in place and should have been prepared for the storm to hit, and if something like the levies broke.

2) In my opinion no one really did their jobs. The national government didn't send help till six days after the storm and by then people were dying. The also claimed that the state and local governments weren't being specific as to what they needed. FEMA was being lead by a politician and was filled with people that didn't know what they were doing. The head of FEMA Michael Brown claims that he miss spoke that everything is handled and he kept saying that they had just found out about the disaster. He couldn't have just found out about it because before the government cut it they had an unfinished plan set in place. The local and state government

He couldn't have just found out about it because before the government cut it they had an unfinished plan set in place. The local and state government called for an evacuation to late, they did not move the buses that were sitting to higher ground and they didn't get drivers to drive the buses.

3) I think that the government should play a role in natural disasters because its the governments job to protect its citizens. The government should have food and water for places where a natural disaster hits. They also should have military to aid with resucuing and evacuation people, before and after the disaster. They should respond quickly and have plans set in place before a disaster hits. The government should have FEMA in a different building from homeland sercuity because being part of that organiztion is causing them to lose money and people. If they lose to many people or to much money than they would be no use to the states because they wouldnt have the nessesitys needed to help. I think that the government should also let the people know whats really going on and not lie to them. FEMA should not be filled with polititions but with trained emerancy disastor people. I think that the government should put project impact back in place and give it the funding that it needs. project impact helped alot of cities be prepared for natural disastors. I think that the government should be more strict on what the states need to do with the money that the government gives them.

I agree that no one really did their jobs, but at the same time you have to understand that nobody was expecting the disaster to happen and at the time, state, local, and federal governments were trying to do their best in providing for the people in those dangerous situations but there was so much going on at the same time for anybody to react in a calm way. There was so much that had to be done in a short period of time.

the governemnt knows that a hurricane is going to hit. they track them and the state gov should have evacuated people sooner.
