So I finally finished reading book one ahh! big grin

I think all the characters are a little strange.

My favorite characters would either be Alyosha and kind of Polenov.

Alyosha seems, I dont know questionable. does he seem like hes perfect to you? he doesn't judge people and everyone seems  to like him.

Polenov was a very generous man to the boys he took them in and saved their money so they could have it when they got older. So he spent his own money on them. Their education and clothing.

My least favorite character would be the father, Fyodor. He left his first kid  basically all by himself. He didn't care about his first wife Adelaida. Then he married another women named Sofia who was 16 years  old!!!!!! he treated her like crap to, she ended up with a disorder! O having two more children that he "forgot" about and leaving them to. from his actions to his drinking this man is ugh. I'll leave it at that.

I think the children lack something, they never really had good parents and they have been moved from house to house being raised by some people they don't even know. This book i thought was going to be really boring but it was actually getting interesting towards the end of the chapter or book one. approvesurprise

Congratulations! One book down, buddy!

Yes, I forgot about Polenov. He was quite nice and generous, too. But there was that one lady...I can't remember her name..but she smacked Fyodor in the face and then she smacked Polenov in the face when she saw that the kids were dirty so she took them and raised them. And then Polenov prayed that she would be rewarded for her kindness, no?

Anyway, that lady was kind of cool. I mean, that was very kind of her to take the boys in like that. And, she was feisty. Ha, like the women in my family =P She didn't only take the boys, make sure they had money, AND raise them, she smacked the mess out of the men and walked out of their homes with a bang!

But I agree with what you think about Alyosha. It is kind of mysterious how...kind and meek he is towards the world, especially after his messed up childhood. But, I think that's why I like him so much. He's mysterious AND kind! What a nice guy =) I wonder if he was cute??

And...Fyodor's a basketcase.

I thought the Polenov man was pretty cool too. . at first. Then he traded them off to other people as well. Those kids got the crap end of the stick. The money saving was really nice of him though. I totally agree with you that the children do lack good parents and a stable home. Moving from the house of the one guy to his friend's, friends house has to be unbearable.
