This course will continue to integrate reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing. An emphasis will be placed on reading and analyzing a variety of American literary works. Reading material will cover all genres--short story, novel, poetry and drama. Responses to the literary works will require varied levels of thinking skills as measured through writing and speaking. Students will continue to develop composition skills through a variety of writing experiences which will provide the basis for future writing courses as well as writing done in other classes. The writing process will be a major focus of this class.
