I think that Dostoevsky would think highly of the freedoms that we have now. However, he would also most likely frown upon the way we handle those freedoms and the way we are always complaining about the country we live in that has granted us these freedoms. He would probably see this generation as an ungrateful bunch.

Yeah, I think so too, but I also think Dostoevsky wouldn't mind the complaints about the way our country is run because (according to the biography) he was part of some sort of rebellion against Russia at one point.
