*Title: Pride and Prejudice
*Author: Jane Austen
     *DOB: 12.16.1775
     *DOD: 7.18.1817
     *Lived: Steventon
*Original Publication Date: 1.28.1813 (my birthday!)
*Setting: Early 1800s. London. Countryside.
*Theme: Love; don’t judge a book by its cover (or a person by his or her class).
*Brief Plot Synopsis: Mrs. Bennet, the mother of a lower class family, wants her five daughters to marry more than financially stable men. When the wealthy Mr. Bingley and his friend Mr. Darcy come to town, they fall in love with the two eldest Bennet daughters, unfolding a twisted, comical, and passionate love story.
(Hehe, I came up with that myself :)
*Characters:
*Elizabeth: Main character. Strong, stubborn, caring.
*Mary: One of the Bennet daughters. Plays the piano. Or, as they called it, the pianoforte. Hehe, how clever :)
*Jane: The eldest and the most beautiful of the Bennet daughters, Mr. Bingley's bride, and Elizabeth's closest friend (in my humble opinion).
*Lydia: I believe she's the youngest of the Bennet daughters (she's fifteen); giggles a lot, outgoing.
*Kitty: The queen giggler of the Bennet daughters.
*Mr. Bennet: The father. He lives in a small house with six women (poor guy). He's whipped majorly, doing whatever his wife asks of him. Mr. Bennet is also quite laid back. A lot of marriage talk takes place in the Bennet home, and yet he remains so impassive through it all, acting as if it marriage were nothing. A kind gentleman.
*Mrs. Bennet: Very materialistic, controlling, dramatic, and loud woman. Cares what others think.
*Mr. Collins: A timid, little man who is desperate for a bride. Goes from Bennet daughter to Bennet daughter to Bennet's neighbor. I don't think he's as bad as people think, though. He doesn't mean to be, I think he's just easily intimidated. He's small and lonely, but I believe he truly means to be a nice husband.
*Mr. Darcy: Main character. Funny sideburns, looks a little like he could be John Cusack's brother or something. Quiet, gives off a fake impression by complete accident. Kind, loyal.
*Mr. Bingsley: Adorable little red-headed man! Jane and Mr. Bingsley fall in love instantaneously. Almost gives up love due to a false impression on Jane.
*Charlotte: The Bennet's neighbor. Close friend with Elizabeth. Ends up being Mr. Collin's triple back-up wife.
*Caroline: Mr. Bingsley's annoying sister. She is very stuck-up, and doesn't want her brother and Jane to be together (if I got that part right).
*Lady Catherine de Bourg: SUPER QUEEN OF ANNOYING! Materialistic, prideful, mean, jealous, pompous, demanding, etc, etc, ETC. The opposite of her nephew.

*Symbols: Are there really any??
*Distinguishing characteristics: The advanced vocabulary helps create an amazingly rich dialogue for this film.

I'm not sure whether or not I like this movie. The plot was kind of bland, and everything was predictable for me (no, I've never read the book. So no sarcasm!). The whole situation seems like it would be very common in the early 1800s, so I don't see the big deal. It's just another Romeo and Juliet, another Phantom of the Opera (well, Phantom's definitely 10 times better), etc. I don't know...it wasn't entirely horrible, though. The dialogue amazed me, I'll give it that. The word choice was remarkable; I was astounded and found myself wishing we still talked like that, haha.
Anyway, apart from not being a Keira Knightly fan, she did well in Pride and Prejudice. However, my favorite character was Mr. Darcy. He's quiet and mysterious, but he doesn't even mean to give off that impression. From the looks of him, he's prideful, ignorant, stubborn, stuck-up, and romantically challenged. But he actually means well (he's just sort of blissful). I thought it was cute. He did kind of remind me of the Phantom, in the way that he seemed like this eerie creature to a girl, almost intimidating, but she was still somehow drawn to him. She saw the beauty in him, and, he turned out to be the sweet, romantic guy that we girls wish we had. Figures.

*P.S: Sorry I'm an hour and a half past Sunday, Mrs. Gutman! I had work!
*P.P.S: How many Elizabeths is Keira Knightly going to play??
*P.P.P.S: Hehe, Keira Knightly and Tom Hollander were both in Pirates of the Caribbean, too!
