Ivan is so appalled by the injustice of our suffering world that he offers an alternative through the Legend of the Grand Inquisitor. How does Ivan suggest that the problem of suffering could be alleviated through the Grand Inquisitor and the priests of the church?
According to Ivan's story suffering could be relieved by the church, not really though God. The church would be the ruling factor in everyones life. The priests in the church would take peoples sin and forgive them, instead of Christ.
The Grand Inquisitor believes that Jesus does not understand human beings. Explain Jesus' "misunderstanding."
The Grand Inquisitor says that Jesus's way to fix mankind was wrong. Instead of freewill they need to be lead and told what they believe.
How does the Grand Inquisitor suggest that the church can relieve the human's "burden of freedom"?
The priests in the church will take the sins of men and tell them they have been forgiven. They are pretty much taking the place of Jesus.
Why is suffering the price of freedom?
Suffering is the price of freedom because not everyone makes the right choices. Freedom gives people the ability to make the wrong choice.
Totally agree with your whole freedom thing. Its great! Good Job
