6th grade English Language Arts classes are taught following the reader's and writer's workshop approach. Students study the works of published authors and learn writing strategies to use in their own writing. Students learn conventions of the English language. They also study structures of texts and grow a love of reading.

6th grade Mathematics will be taught following the Connected Math Project 3 (CMP3) curriculum.  CMP3 aligns to the Common Core State Standards and emphasizes deeper mathematical thought processes.  Every lesson begins with a “Launch Question,” which activates students’ prior knowledge about the content.  Students then “Explore” the mathematical concept through thoughtful group study, finishing by, “Summarizing,” discoveries whole group.  Students will leave class with extension problems that focus on the content learned that day.
