Title- Pride & Prejudice
Author- Jane Austen
Born- December 16, 1775
Died- July 18,1817
Lived in England
Published- January 28, 1813
Setting- Early 1800's in England
Theme- Social standings and wealth are not as important as being raised correctly and having good morals.
Plot- A family of five girls are all unmarried and a rich bachelor arrives in town. He falls in love with the oldest daughter and this is also the first time the second eldest daughter meets Mr.Darcy whom she hates at first, then later falls in love with him.
Characters-
Elizabeth Bennet- She is the protagonist in the story. She is twenty and still hasn't been proposed too. At the beginning of the story she would never would of even thought of marrying Mr. Darcy, but when she discovers what kind of man he really is she falls in love with him.
Mr. Darcy- During the first scene with him he appeared unsociable and just down right grumpy. Then though out the story you begin to discover he is a very giving and loving man.
Jane Bennet- Elizabeth's sister, she is seen as the "pretty one." She is very shy with her feeling though, which causes issues between her and Mr. Bingley.
Mr. Bingley- He is a wealthy bachelor who comes to town, he is seen as less intelligent then his friend Mr. Darcy, but he is much more fun.
Mrs.Bennet- The mother of the five girls, her only goal in life is to get the girls married.
William Collins- Asked Elizabeth to marry him because he needed a wife, she said no because he is annoying and dull. So he got married to Charlotte Lucas.
Charlotte Lucas- Elizabeth's best friend who marries Mr. Collins because she wants a husband.
Major symbols- I didn't really see any, but I'm not very good at identifying them.
Personal Response- This movie was okay,I wasn't that interested in it. I found Mr. Darcy to be really boring, and even at the end when Elizabeth fell in love with him, I still didn't like him. I think the only time I liked him in the entire movie was at the very very end, when he was calling her Mrs.Darcy, that was pretty cute. I liked Mr. Bingley, he seemed like a lot of fun and very nice, him and I would be friends big grin. I'm glad Elizabeth was the main character in the story, I don't think i would be able to stand any of the other girls in her family. The younger girls and the mother drove me crazy! all they ever did was giggle. ugh.

I know-- could you imagine having sisters like that? Or even having your whole life revolve around getting married?

I felt pretty much the same way about this movie, and yes the younger girls were SO annoying. Especially when that one girl got married to that guy and was showing off her ring constantly.
