I kind of feel bad for Lizaveta. Everyone thinks bad of her, just because she's slow. So was Sam Dawson! But he had a baby...that's such a good movie =) But I guess that was nice of Gregory and his wife to take the baby in. They seem like they've had enough experience with that, anyway.
But I couldn't believe that Alyosha actually went to visit Katerina! I mean, I don't think he intended to do anything with her...it just, didn't seem his character. So I was kind of thrown off-guard. But then when Dmitri found him...it was like a soap opera moment. At least that's what I think. Dmitri's such a manwhore. At least he feels somewhat guilty about it though.
And I'd like to join in on Gregory and Smerdyakov's debate. I don't agree with Smerdyakov- you should never renounce your faith in God. If you did, then I don't think you even had any faith to begin with. And yes, you can ask for forgiveness later, but that's so selfish. I don't see how Fyodor could get sick of such a heated argument. And when Fyodor started attacking Alyosha with mean words about his mother, I felt so angry with him! Well he shouldn't have gotten her pregnant if he thinks she's so bad! I mean this was such a dramatic moment in the book for me, especially when Dmitri came and started flipping out about Grushenka (who names their child Grushenka??!).
I think Grushenka and Katerina are like two little children. Grushenka only wanted to stay with Dmitri because Katerina was excited to possibly have him back (I don't know why). I wouldn't want to be someone's last resort, though.
This book had some ups and downs- some exciting parts and some long, drawn-out, exceedingly BORING snoozefest parts. But the author accomplished his goal in getting his point across, and in getting a reaction out of the reader- me. I definitely felt upset at times, like when Fyodor was speaking mean things about Alyosha and Ivan's mother. But I also felt a little happy when Alyosha read Lise's love letter; that was cuuute :)
Ok I'm done now so bye.
