Symbols: The color purple was used in the movie to represent courage, God, and hope. It could also have been used to represent justice. The little girl in the end of the movie was used to represent Celi's childhood innocence.
Distinguishing Characteristics: The movie reflected upon the times of unfair treatment of when African American women were mistreated and often abused simply because they had little money. It also shows, however, that if we all stand together to fix a problem that affects as a whole, we can achieve anything.
Response: I truly liked the movie. It was accurate and I like the important details that were shown in the film. It was easy to follow and women everywhere can relate to it especially because inequality against women is still experienced in parts of the world today.
