I thought that this book was very different from all the other ones because it introduced more about Ivan. Before Alyosha was the main character and we knew very little about his older brother Ivan. Now, however, Ivan has become more known to us and we are able to understand why he feels the way that he does and why he pretends to be so uncaring when it comes to leaving Katerina and the rest of his family. That's basically all that I got out of it besides the fact that Smeryakov is planning to do something terrible to Mr. Karamazov.
