This movie is obviously called Sense and Sensibility. It was adapted from a book written by Jane Austen in 1811 under the pseudonym of "A Lady". The book was published in the United Kingdom. The movie tells the story of the Dashwood family after the father/husband of the family dies. When he dies he gives all his property to his son, not his wife or daughters. His son doesn't give anything to his father's wife's family so they are forced to move somewhere else. A distant relative gives them a cottage to live in. So the mother and her three daughters move to the cottages. The two main characters are the oldest of the three daughters Elinor and Marianne. Elinor is in love with a man named Edward Ferrars who is the brother of their father's son's wife (the wife of the guy that got all the property). Marianne falls in love with a person that carries her home, named Willoughby, when she twists her ankle. The whole time a man named colonel brandon is in love with Marianne and is constantly helping her and watching after her. He is probably in his 30s and isnt very appealing to Marianne. Willoughby soon leaves her for another girl in london and she becomes heartbroken and begins to get sick. Meanwhile, Elinor and Marianne take a visit to london and Elinor finds out that Edward is secretly engaged with someone else. Elinor also feels depressed after realizing this. Marianne's sickness worstens so they set out to return home. They stop at a relatives manor for a rest and Marianne leaves to go to Willougby's house a little ways away. It starts to rain and it is Colonel Brandon who carries her back home much like Willoughby did before. Now she is on the verge of death and has a very high fever. Colonel Brandon sets out to get their mother so she could see Marianne and maybe help her get over her sickness. Marianne does get over her sickness and begins to fall in love with Colonel Brandon. Elinor realizes that Edward canceled his engagement with his previous to-be wife. Edward comes and proposes to Elinor and she is very happy and accepts. In the end they have a double wedding with Elinor marrying Edward and Marianne marrying colonel brandon.
There was most likely symbolism in this movie but I probably didn't catch it.
It was a good movie, and its complicated to explain in a single post, so go out an watch it yourselves.
By the way, the best character was colonel brandon because he was played by Alan Rickman, and he is awesome.
