Well, I finished book 2. It was primarliy discussion amongst the characters. With, of course, Fyodor making a fool out of himself several times. I really don't get it, but I like the book? I'm not sure why, so don't ask. So, basically, the whole chapter was the Karamazov's, some monks, Elder Zosima, Miusov, and Kalganov in the Elder's room and at the Father Superior's lunch. Dmitry showed up late at the meeting. Before he arrived, the Elder pretty much summed up Ivan and Fyodor's character. Telling them both how they are. And telling them how to change. Inbetween this, he went out with Alyosha and blessed some women. I do believe Alyosha has a crush on a girl. ;). Then Dmitry arrived, and him and his father quarreled over another girl (Grushenka). And Zosima got tired and banged his head on the floor, then left. He told Alyosha to leave. The monestary was not his place. Then Alyosha and Rakitin talked for a while, about the family. He missed the lunch. Fyodor made a fool of hisself again, and made everyone leave the Father Superiors lunch. They were in the carriage, and at the end we find out that the meeting in Zosima's room was actually Ivan's idea, and that he really, really wanted it. :P
So explain what was the purpose of the meeting? Did the meeting serve it purpose? Why or why not? how do the relationships between the characters change as a result of the meeting?
There purpose of the meeting was supposed to be to solve the conflict between Fyodor and Dmitry. The meeting was a failure due to Fyodor's shananigans (most awesome word ever). Dmitry and Fyodor seem to be even more angry at eachother after this meeting.
Ivan was also reaally angry after this meeting also. I wonder if he had other intentions for the meeting, besides just to solve Dmitry and Fyodor's problems?
Nah, he's just got a really rare case of physical tourette's which made him shove that one guy out of the carriage.
hahaha! Don't make excuses for him!
