1. What role did the National, State, and Local Governments have in preventing, mitigating, and reacting to Hurricane Katrina?
The National, State, and Local Governments didnt do a very good job with Hurricane Katrina. They were not prepared for it. FEMA didnt react fast enough; it was too late.
2. Evalute how each level of government preformed its duties. Be specific and back up your points with facts and logic.
National: They reacted late to the situation. They went to New orleans a couple of days after the storm. They made a very poor decision because a lot of people died from starvation and dehaydration.
Local: The locals governments job should have evacuate the area before the storm hit and did something to save the people.
State: The state government should have communicated with the local government and help them if needed.
3. After reading the "FEMA and federalism" article, take a stand about the role of the federal government in natural disasters.
After I read the article I think that the federal government should have reacted faster and do something to people the people in New Oreleans. They didn't really do anything to save the people. They should be more helpful for cities who have gone through natural disasters.
