- The national governments role in Hurricane Katrina was FEMA who was supposed to have a plan and help rescue all the people who were homeless and needed shelter, food, and water, which did not do a very good job. The state governments role in Katrina was the governor that was supposed get people to a safe place and out of the flood with food and water, who also didn’t do a good job. The local government’s role in Katrina was the mayor who was supposed to have a evacuation plan and places to go but he did not do so.
- The national government performed its duties not very well and took a long time to help at all. The state government performed its duties not very well either because they had no plan and no way to transport people away from the flood because they didn’t have drivers for the buses. The local government performed its duties very poorly also because they had no evacuation plan and no food, water, or shelter for any of the people homeless after Katrina.
- The role of the federal government in natural disasters is FEMA which is supposed to evacuate and restore the disaster area but only if it is a major disaster, any small disaster that can be taken care of by state or local governments should be done so by them and disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and 9/11 should be handled by FEMA or the federal government.
