I think the way we should have reacted to the rwanda genocide was instead of going in their ourselves to clean up a european mess, we should have pushed for the europeans to do it themselves. We didn't have to send troops in nor was it our responsibility, but we should have pressured Belgium or France to do it.
it wasn't theirs either, they were just nice enough to help out. and we shouldve too
Belgium set up the system that put Tutsis in power and led to the Hutus taking revenge. So it is sort of their responsibility.
It was Belgiums mess, maybe not France's, but definatly Belgiums, they established the the ID card system which only made tensions between Hutu and Tutsi much worse, at the time a lot of African countries had European "Parents" controlling them so to speak, Rwanda was Belgium's and Belgium did almost nothing about it.
we should atleast help the inocent people
but europeans was there...and they werent helping.
So your ok with having millions of people die because it wasnt our responsiblity knowing we could have done something about it? We get into things that arent our problem all the time, this time shouldnt of been any different.
I'm not saying we should have sat by and done nothing at all, what we should have done was put pressure on Belgium to clean up the mess they made, and your right we do get into things that aren't our problem all the time, and that's why so many countries hate us. What we did in Vietnam and Korea are the main reasons other countries dislike us.
I think that if it was us in their position we would want all the help we could get if other countries weren't helping us. We would be saving lots of innocent lives and we wouldnt have to send many troops over there.
nobody needed to help fix the problem but everybody should've help whether it was an European issue or not
