US Patriot Act

I believe the patriot act is needed at certain times, but there should be a limit to how much the government has control over or access to. In times of war or national crisis the government should be allowed to access more information but only informati0n that is necessary or directly connected to helping the greater good of the people. One can argue though that everyone has a different opinion on what is helping the greater good of the people, and im willing to bet that the governments defintion of whats good for us just means having access to our personal information with an excuse. I think our right to privacy has been violated more times than one and it needs to stop.

although i agree with you about needing the patriot act at certain times, i also think that it would be pretty difficult to limit what the government can access, its just too risky

I think the government i doing that now in regards to "information that matters." The government could care less about what (teenager 1) would say to (teenager 2). Though I do agree that the Government can go to far sometimes ala SOPA.

I doubt that knowing about this has changed many people ways of communicating with each other.  Unless you are working with terrorist there is nothing to worry about.  They won't get you introuble for calling a friend to go and do something mildly deliquent, they have better things to worry about then the average american's phone call to their mom.

i also agree. but it shouldnt be just during wars and stuff because people are constantly doing things that we dont know about. What ever they think is suspicisous they should have the right to know so that he whole country isnt in danger.

I agree with Rachel, Terrorism will be a never ending war we will be fighting every day for the rest of time.  There is no way of knowing that terrorism is completely gone, even if it really was.
