I tend to side with the Patriot Act being a necessary evil.  It all comes down to whether you want to give the U.S. government the power to protect citizens from terrorists who want to kill Americans..any Americans.  What good are civil liberties when you're dead?

There needs to be a moderation to it, In regular cases without the patriot act law enforcement needs to get a judge warrant and follow other steps. Without it there are no other steps, thats the only flaw in the system, I'm pro Patriot act but it needs to be tweaked a bit.

I side with Mr. Green on the fact that it was neccesary.  The times it takes for law enforcement to get search warrants is lost time when looking for a terrorist when they will be on the constant move to execute/plan their next attack.  If you are the normal american that breaks a law every here and then, the government has better things to take care of then someone's hit and run, or smoking on hospital property.  This is directly related to terrorism and if you are not a terrorist then there isn't a thing to worry about. Plus, how many people do you think have changed the ways they communicate since this act has been put in place?

Well said, Spencer.  Fighting terrorism is a tough business....think about a nuclear bomb blast in New York City.  We would then REALLY over-react, wouldn't we after 15 million people are dead.

So true. Americans need to be logical. If you're not a criminal then you have nothing to worry about.
