1.) The Governor should have contacted the President who in turn could have helped with last-minute prevention attempts or evacuating the city. The President could also put a specialized group in place to secure the city against all harm. After the storm, another team should have been in place to jump right in to help rebuild the destroyed city of New Orleans.

What really happened was the Governor contacted the disaster control sort of group who weren't much help because of their un-experienced manager and the fact that the Governor was trained and served under President Clinton (who, in case you didn't hear, was quite the disastrous four years LOL) This screwed a lot up due to the managers' lack of experience (which wasn't his fault really). Everything happened too fast and the Government couldn't get it under control so the city of New Orleans went under water. It was under water before anyone was able to react to it.

2.) The Local Governor reacted by calling for aids because they needed supplies and rescue missions to save the stranded people on the rooftops. The emergency control part of the government couldn't deal with the catastrophe and wasn't able to send any help. The president was holding press conferences about the hurricane rather than sending for help to the disaster. Each part of the Government did not react quickly enough and no one did their rightful job duties.

3. The article states how the state and local government have to do most of the work when it comes to natural disasters rather than the federal government.

I THINK THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO TAKE A BIGGER ROLE IN HELPING WITH NATURAL DISASTERS SINCE THEIR WHOLE JOB IS TO PROTECT AND ENJHANCE OUR COUNTRY.

When the state and local Governments are placed in charge of problems as large as a hurricane, they don't have the resources to help/prevent the issues that may arise. Therefore they call upon the Federal Government for help and their resources.

"I THINK THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO TAKE A BIGGER ROLE IN HELPING WITH NATURAL DISASTERS SINCE THEIR WHOLE JOB IS TO PROTECT AND ENHANCE OUR COUNTRY."
