The color purple represented god and hope. THe little girl at the end of the movie that runs to the train represents Celi when she was younger. Johnson represents some what of a slave owner.

This movie represents how women used to be beat and put down becuae they were women and of a lower class. It also shows how streinght in numbers works. If a group of people back you up, more will join. Standing up for what is right also was a big part of this movie.
Response:
I liked this movie because it showed how if you stand up for your self you can change the situation. I also liked it because it portrayed exactly how the late 1800's and early 1900's were like and it showed how different it was then now. Womens rights have really come along way.
