Germany is one of the most obese countries in europe. 21% of German adults were obese in 2007. If we pass a fat tax, this will hopefully discourage people to not buy unhealthy food, or to cut back on buying it. The beer, pork, and chocolates is what Germany is known for. This also will hopefully help the obese adults, try to become healthy again, by seeing the food that they had had that was fatty, and figuring out there are better foods out there, that are better for you. If you eat better, you feel better.

If germany's food that its know for and is often trade is fatty food (beer, pork, chocolates)... why would germany be proposing a fat tax?

This isn't something that is or should be under the U.N.'s jurisdiction.
