Doesn't the success of the past 10 years in the War on Terror justify extreme actions in protecting people?  Do we need to wait for an exploded nuclear bomb???????

no we need to wait for the war to be over and then force them to surrender. As long as Al Quaeda is around we should have the patriot act but when they go away we should get rid of it because then there is no reason to spy on americans.

Do you believe the restrictions in airports are necessary, though?  At what point does this "protection" go over the acceptable line?  Do we want to live in a "safe" police state?

I think we still all have the same freedoms just we're watched more than before which is fine.

I agree but there will always be an issue of terrorism whether its your snake in a whicker basket man or your neighbor. So it should never die.

The Patriot Act is harmless in my opinion, the people that it targets are the people we want to be protected from. They don't just simply spot these people, of course they have to look through the entire stream. If youre not a terrorist, don't sweat it. :-D

I do believe the Patriot Act has helped prevent terrorism in the country, as long as national security doesn't go around flaunting who've they been spying on and keep things on the downlow I don't really consider that prying into people's privacy. And even so how would we know?  Just don't do anything bad...

It either justifies it or noones tried to do anything. Or maybe 9/11 happend so the government could start taking records and phone taping like they did.

I support the war and our troops, but no nation has ever benefitted from a prolonged war. Hopefully the MAD theory will continue to prevent the world from ending in nuclear fallout.

MAD may actually lead to the end of the world (nuclear winter, radiation, incineration....)  What if someone who is insane has control of nuclear launch codes?  Like, say, in Pakistan?

I'm more concerned with North Korea! But even completely insane people that would be willing to steal a nuclear device would realize that the enitre world could potentially end if they detonated it. Maybe I'm giving those people too much credit...
