The Local government had the responsibility to organize transportation, food, shelter and water, and I believe that they local government failed in that department.
As a State they also should have been prepared for a natural disaster, they should have had a backup plan to get the citizens out of the area and keep everyone safe. They should have paid more attention to the Levis, maybe then when they were about to break we could have done something to prevent it or gotten the people out of harms way.
National Government should have been on top of getting help to those people faster, help and relief should have been coming from all over the country by the next morning at the latest point, not days later, we are suppose too be one nation under god. United we stand, divided we fall.? We should have been there for our fellow Americans a lot faster than we were, as a nation we failed.
I think that all types of government could have stepped up their game a bit more, the nation should have been there too back up the state, but the state should have been there too back up the local government. The local government only has the local people too care about, and they did not do that very well, the state government should have made sure the local government had a plan long before the disaster happened, and the national government just failed, New Orleans lost all concepts of government real quick.
