Slide 1: Problems With Food Quality
Yesterday you read an excerpt from The Jungle. Your first slide in your ppt should address the problems that existed in the quality of meat. To do so, you should talk about the problems that existed in the quality of foods. Use what you learned from reading The Jungle to help explain the problems. The questions below are intended to help you reflect on what you learned:
1. What were workers instructed to do to remove the smell from spoiled meat?
2. Describe the overall sanitary conditions inside the meat packing plant. What instances of outright unsanitary handling of meat occurred?
Slides 2-3: Important People and Laws
In slides 2-3, you will discuss the important people and laws that came about during the early 20th century that brought reform to the quality of food. Be sure to evaluate the success of failure of each item listed below. The people and laws listed below are what you should focus on:
