This course presents sophisticated modern literature through short stories, novels, poetry, drama,
and essays. The time frame for the reading extends from the 1940s to the present. Writing
assignments will be generated from readings within the class and will reinforce and add to the
grammar, vocabulary and writing skills developed in previous courses.
