Advisory establishes and reinforces the fundamentals of academic literacy and helps students to hone the skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. Critical thinking and self-reflection are at the forefront of the curriculum. While Advisory focuses mainly on developing foundational skills, it is also an opportunity to foster interpersonal relationships with peers and mentors. Each year, the Advisory curriculum will be tailored to students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. Ninth grade Advisory will focus on study skills and the high school transition. Tenth grade will support the MYP Personal Project and individual expression. Eleventh grade will focus on college readiness indicators including test preparation and academic skills. Twelfth grade Advisory will support the college application and preparation processes first semester and culminate with a unique senior experience during the second semester.
