6th Chinese is an introductory course in Mandarin Chinese, which is proficiency-based and develops a foundation in basic listening, speaking, reading, writing and cultural awareness. The course focuses on 1) daily conversing expressions, 2) Pinyin (Chinese sounding system) and Chinese characters recognition, 3) simple sentences construction, and 4) the comparison of Chinese and American cultures.
The classes are
enhanced with field trip, Chinese dance, audio-visual aids, games, songs, short films, and festival
celebrations. Students are encouraged to participate in all activities, not limited to class lessons only.
