Students will learn how economics function and how to apply the concepts and principals of
economics to their lives as individuals and citizens. The course will emphasize four areas. Mi-
croeconomics will be examined in the study of the market system based on scarcity, opportunity
cost, and the interactions of buyers and sellers. Macroeconomics will be examined in the study
of the national economy including inflation, unemployment, monetary and fiscal policies, and the
Federal Reserve. International economics will be examined through the topics of specialization
and trade.
